So, one of my new year’s “resolutions” was to blog more.  And not just about quilts.  So far it’s been 20 days into the new year, and here we are, the first post.  Pretty good, considering I haven’t posted since last October.

Well, first up.  A finished quilt!  I think this counts as a 2010 quilt, even though I’m just now getting around to posting it.

A nine patch quilt, although I could have saved a lot of time if I’d planned better.  I started out making a ton of nine patch blocks, then realized that I didn’t want the quilt to be huge since I wanted to give it to a friend who was only in town for a couple of days and I had to quilt it myself.  So, with this layout, it would have been way simpler and much quicker to have just cut large squares and small squares of green and pieced it that way.  Oh well, live and learn.  But, it’s backed in flannel.  Which makes it awesome.

Remember these blocks?  That I started back when dinosaurs roamed the earth.

Well, they are now a top.  And basted.  And I’m hand quilting on it.  Here’s the proof:

Will wonders never cease?  I’m not a huge fan of hand quilting.  I find it tedious and the actual quilting is my least favorite part of creating a quilt.  Which would explain why I have 15 quilt tops in a box.

In other news.  All that canning I did over the summer was totally worth it.

It’s delicious.

And this is the next project:
