Whew!  I put together 12 Caldonia blocks this past week or so.  After the first couple, I started sort of chain piecing them and had an assembly line style thing happening and the rest went together quickly.

The top is together and basted, but not yet quilted.

I’m pretty stumped on how I’m going to quilt this.  Possibly some sort of echoing lines for each star?  The areas between the stars create such cool shapes that I’d like to highlight that as well, but not distract from the blocks…decisions, decisions.

The top is 36″ x 48″ – a perfect baby/crib sized quilt.

This is my favorite block!  I love how the stripey print worked out!

And this block is a close second favorite:

I didn’t have enough yardage of the prints and had to substitute some solids from the stash.  If you’re thinking of making this I used 8 fat quarters of prints and (this is a very, very rough guess) about a fat quarter of solids.  Of course, I’m pretty new to paper piecing an end up having quite a bit of waste fabric to trim off my blocks.  I like to use a piece of fabric wayyy bigger than what I actually need because paper piecing is still somewhat mind boggling to me.

I’m linking up with Thursday Threads at 627 Handworks today!  Head on over and see what everyone else is up to!
